flava in ya ear

Random thought of the day:

I was playing around with my Pandora radio on my phone on my Gang Starr channel (yes, one of the best yet) and through the match ups came “Flava in ya ear” by Craig Mack. This got me wondering what happened to the dude. I mean you can wikipedia the answer, but really what happened to the dude? Flava was a jam and still is by my standards, but it got me thinking about other things. That song was hijacked by Jennifer Lopez for a song I choose not to remember the title but I know Ja Rule’s verse starts “It must be the ass…” Anyways, from there I remember the rip of the Beatnuts “Off the Books” for “Jenny on the Block” you know, the one that made Ben Affleck look like a complete tool if he wasn’t one already. Imagine that the whole world of classic hip hop as a huge sample ground for terrible pop songs. Would I want to live in a world where that could happen? What’s next? Is someone going to take the beat from “Full Clip” and change it to a light hearted pop tune? If that happens, would the world be safe? Please hope it doesn’t, that would be a serious dagger to my heart.

vote or die?

Most people might know about the OKC Mixtape Awards and some might not, so I’ll shed some light on the situation. Basically, if you have a computer and I’m assuming you might since you’d have to in order to read this, you should vote. Now I’m not going to force anyone into anything, but I’ll suggest a few people. Jabee would be a good suggestion. Check the album Blood is the New Black that dropped last July. Vote for him in the categories: Artist OTY, Album OTY and Lyricist OTY.
Next would be one of my personal favorites are the 8bit Cynics. Check them out in the categories: Alternative Artist OTY and Song OTY
Follow that with OB One, the master on the beats. Makes me jealous, but I’ll live with it since I wasn’t nominated, let alone had enough finished work to represent myself. Vote for OB for Producer OTY.
Finally I’d like to add Puzzle People, a collective crew consisting of the above mentioned artists, some others who weren’t nominated, plus myself. Running for Camp OTY and look us up myspace.com/werpuzzlepeople

Other members of Puzzle People who are running include:

aDDLib - Artist OTY

Ronnie Harris - Lyricist OTY

show love

Since I was shown love on his blog, I’ll show some love back. Ladies and gentlemen, please meet Doc Vile, producer, deejay and member of the Circa360 crew from Tulsa. I have worked with Meta who is a member of Circa360 and through the song I did with Meta, I stumbled upon Vile. Check the beats and music. Skills are skills, so show love and check the link.

dirt for days

So my man Jay Fish brought this up to my attention this afternoon. This lovely piece of equipment is busy chilling in a local pawn shop in Norman. What intrigues me is how and why this piece of hip hop culture was abandoned? Did someone pawn this for a girl? Bail money? Being a wack producer? What? All I know this needs to be scooped up quick. Wish I wasn’t as broke; otherwise I’d take the EPS home. Talk about dirt.
